The Peabody boys basketball team cruised to an 81-46 win over Essex Tech Sunday. Chris Canela had the hot hand, putting up 23 points and grabbing six rebounds for the Tanners. Junior Estrella also had a good day with 18 points and eight rebounds. Chibuikem Onwuogo, Jake Diezemann and Jake Irvine also played well for Peabody, which next takes on Marblehead on Tuesday.

The Eagles had three wrestlers sweep the quad meet, as Quinn Alexander (106 pounds), Ryan Garlitz (113) and Zach Alexander (132) all went 4-0. Will Grady (120), Malcolm Mitchell (126), Ben Shaw (152) and Ben Klein (182) went 3-1. The Eagles improved to 22-3 on the season.
SWIMMING
Fenwick 97, St. Mary’s 68
The Crusaders beat the rival Spartans thanks to some excellent relay performances. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Catherine Christuk, Sophia Lumino, Rebecca Leelman and Sarah Long finished first (2 minutes, 2.97 seconds) and qualified for states. The team of Michael D’Iorio, Garrett Collins, Rowan Emerson and Connor Christuk (1:48.00) won the 200 free relay, and the team of Bryce McCarthy, Collins, D’Iorio and Connor Christuk won the 400 free relay.
In the individual events, Connor Christuk won the 200 free (2:02.38) and the 100 free (1:02.81), Catherine Christuk won the 200 IM (2:21.22) and 100 backstroke (1:02.88), Lumino won the 100 fly (1:02.37, qualified for states) and the 500 free (5:45.30) and Emerson won the 50 free (26.47) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.31).
Fenwick (6-0) will host its final dual meet of the season against Austin Prep next Sunday to determine the Catholic Central League championship.
GYMNASTICS
Peabody 120, Gloucester 114
Peabody senior Shelby McKie was first overall, her teammate Katie Cohen was second on the balance beam, third on the floor and third on the parallel bars, and Lily Avila finished second on the balance bars.
JV BASKETBALL
Lynn Tech 55, Essex Tech 35
Lynn Tech 53, Whittier Tech 36
The Tech boys JV basketball won against Essex Tech, 55-35, Friday and beat Whittier Tech, 53-36, Saturday. Carlos Mateo had the hot hand, scoring 10 points aaginst Essex and 13 against Whittier. Luis Pineiro and Anthony Imenel each scored eight points against Essex Tech. Elian Sosa scored 10 points against Whittier, and Greg Hernandez and Brandon Lopez played excellent defense, providing a spark for the Tigers.
