LYNN– The Classical swim team kept its win streak alive with a 92-70 win over Swampscott at Lynn Tech Thursday afternoon.
The Rams (6-3) took all but one event on the day. Harrison Seitz won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 12.67 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.00). Jacob Lang won the 200 individual medley (2:28.21) and the 500 free (5:50.21). Eric Macorri was also a double-winner, taking the 50 free (25.37) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.68). Carly Mendonca won the 100 butterfly (1:04.81). Sarah Sirois won the diving portion with a score of 270.45, and Alex Pedro finished second with a score of 199.00, which qualified him for the state sectionals.
Classical also swept the relays, with the team of Mendonca, Macorri, Elias Bakas and Lang winning the 200 medley relay (2:05.12), Macorri, John Otalvaro, Pedro and Seitz winning the 200 free relay (1:51.02) and Pedro, Lang, Noah Corbishley and Bakas winning the 400 free relay (4:27.77).
Swampscott’s lone winner was Will Cronin, who won the 100 backstroke (1:04.45). The 200 free relay team of Meredith Lutter, Chrissy Rogers, Tessa Diaz and Kasey Kennedy qualified for state sectionals, and Rachel Rooklin set a new personal best in the 50 free (1:38.45).
Revere 96, English 81
The Bulldogs made a splash in the diving event, with Shanel Turransky taking first and teammate Hannah Trahant finishing second. The Bulldogs also swept the top two spots in the 500 free, with Caroline Zuffante taking first and Peter Phelan finishing second. Amanda Fabrizio won the 200 free for English.
Second-place finishes for the Bulldogs included Phelan in the 200 IM, Kylie Moorehouse in the 50 free, Turransky in the 100 back, the 200 medley relay team of Zuffante, Phelan, Andy Nhiv and Shane Carino, the 200 free relay team of Turransky, Hannah Trahant, Emma Trahant and Moorehouse, and the 400 free relay team of Fabrizio, Emma Trahant, Zuffante and Phelan.
BOYS TRACK
Peabody 64, Classical 22
The Rams ran into a tough Peabody team, which won the Northeastern Conference Large Division title, and fell in the final meet of the season. Classical’s Adam Washington won the high jump (six feet, nine inches), Marcus Rivera won the 45-yard dash (5.1), and Gilley Kabamba won the 1000 (2:55.6).
Winners for Peabody included Conner Ramos in the shot put (43-10), Carlos Chez in the 45 hurdles (6.5), Christian Silva in the 600 (1:40.9), Claudio Rocha in the mile (5:50.2) and Trevor Smith in the 2-miles (12:21.5).
Danvers 56, English 30
The Bulldogs saw strong performances from Juan Avelino in the 55-meter hurdles (9.0), Kevin Francisco in the 600 (1:33.5) and Abrar Jalal in the 1000 (2:50.6). English also won the 4×400 relay. Winners for Danvers included Evan Denman in the 2-miles (11:35.8), Joseph Lauretti-Pereira in the mile (5:04.7), Anthony Spignese in the 300 (39.6), Justin Curtis in the 55 (6.9), Bruno Abbatessa in the shot put (41-8) and Will Maurice in the high jump (5-6).
Gloucester 68, Saugus 15
Nichollas Silva took the high jump (5-8) and the 55 hurdles (6.7) for Saugus, but that’d be all the first-place finishes the Sachems could manage against the Fishermen.
Marblehead 74, Salem 12
The Magicians wrapped up the NEC/Small title with a rout at home. Marblehead won every event but one, the 55 hurdles, which went to Salem’s Jaden Oliver. The winners for the Magicians included Augie Venzal in the high jump (5-6), Ryan Dumais in the shot put (43-11), Joe Doherty in the 55 (6.5), Joe Cronin in the 300 (39.6), Zach Phelan in the 600 (1:35.5), Ian Strothers in the 1000 (3:18.6), Oliver Jacob in the mile (5:04.6) and Grant Adam in the 2-miles (11:24.5)
Beverly 47, Revere 39
It was a tight meet in Revere, but the Panthers had enough depth to grab the victory. For Revere, Morris Toglan won the shot put (43-9 3/4), David Sinatra won the 50-yard hurdles (6.6), Jonathan Hysenaj won the 50 (5.6), Zachary Gentile won the mile (5:06.3) and Sebastian Mejia won the 2-miles (11:11.2). For Beverly, Sam Abate won the high jump (5-8), John Jones won the 600 (1:33.4) and Brian McPherson won the 1000 (2:55.0).
GIRLS TRACK
Danvers 55, English 29
Elizabeth Rozon had a big day for English, winning the high jump (4-8) and the 55 hurdles (10.0), as did Kaylee Smith, who won the shot put (27-11 3/4) and the 55 (7.9). Taylor Sullivan also won the mile for English (6:14.9). Winners for Danvers included Gabby Sherrick in the 2-miles (14:05.0), Rebecca Henion in the 1000 (3:29.2), Katie Crum in the 600 (1:47.0) and Elodie Poussard in the 300 (49.0).
Peabody 70, Classical 15
The Rams had a tough time against the Tanners, with Agnes Bangura earning the only first-place finish for Classical in the 45 (5.8). Winners for Peabody were Alexa Flewelling in the high jump (5-0), Emily Bacelar (31-1 3/4), Sam Pang in the 45 hurdles (7.2), Teya Marquis in the 300 (47.8), Lilly Brennan in the 600 (1:52.4), Nicole Ruggiero in the 1000 (3:34.5), Ally Barrett in the mile (6:10.8) and Colleen Guiney in the 2-miles (14:53.2).
Marblehead 72, Salem 8
The Marblehead girls also wrapped up the NEC/Small title with a lopsided win Thursday. The only Salem win belonged to Fuanyi Ngulfac (4-6). Marblehead winners included Chloe Ferrucci in the shot put (31-10 1/2), Clara Pollard in the 55 hurdles (9.3), Gabriella Mark in the 55 (7.8), Lydia Bongiorno in the 300 (46.4), Eve Rice in the 600 (1:57.2), Ana Hecht in the 1000 (3:26.5), Mia Forster in the mile (6:11.5) and Lily Gillis in the 2-miles (14:11.3).
Gloucester 54, Saugus 26
The Sachems earned wins from Ailyn Minaya in the shot put (31-7 1/4) and Haley Dennis in the 55 (7.3).
Beverly 74, Revere 12
The Panthers grabbed the NEC/Large title as they routed Revere on the road. The Patriots’ only win came in the 1000, as Hannah Fitzpatrick finished just .4 seconds ahead of the second-place runner (3:24.4). Beverly’s winners included Tyler Orlandella in the high jump (5-0), Gracie Sparkman in the shot put (35-11 3/4), Orlandella in the 50 hurdles (7.9), Grace Byrd in the 50 (6.3), India Ingemi in the 300 (43.7), Amanda Rosenberger in the 600 (1:56.1), Lexi Sutyak in the mile (6:01.3) and Abby Walsh in the 2-miles (12:46.5).
