BOSTON — Rachelle Bond pleaded guilty Friday in connection with the murder of her 2-year-old child.

Bond pleaded to being an accessory after the fact to the murder of her daughter, Bella, and larceny over $250, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

She is expected to be sentenced May 22.

The child’s remains were found in a plastic bag on Deer Island in Winthrop in July 2015. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children digitally reconstructed the child’s face in an attempt to identify the girl, who was known only as “Baby Doe” for nearly three months.

Within two weeks, a composite image of the chubby-cheeked, brown-eyed girl reached an estimated 47 million people on Facebook.

State police arrested Bond and her boyfriend Michael McCarthy in Lynn last fall in connection with the killing. Bond was ordered held on $1 million bond, which was revoked Friday by Judge Janet Sanders.

McCarthy is accused of murdering the toddler in late May or early June. He is expected back in court Feb. 23.

Prosecutors contend Bond knew McCarthy killed her daughter and helped him dispose of the body.

Prosecutors also allege Bond continued to accept public assistance after she knew of her daughter’s death.
