The Lynnfield girls tennis team continues to roll with another clean sweep on Monday, topping Hamilton-Wenham, 5-0.
Sarah Mezini (6-0, 6-0), Camie Foley (6-3, 6-3) and Katie Nevils (6-1, 6-0) all recorded singles wins, while doubles wins came from the team of Katie Nugent and Allison Carey (6-1, 6-1) and the team of Laura Mucci and Alexa Vittiglio (6-1, 6-0).
The Pioneers (8-0) are finishing up a suspended match with Manchester-Essex this afternoon. The score is currently tied 2-2 and the second doubles teams are still on the court battling for the deciding point.
Lynn Classical 3, Medford 2
Classical’s Lizzie Troisi took the first singles match, 6-4, 6-3, and Fereshtah Tajiki took the second singles match, 6-4, 6-2. The doubles team of Shanelle Barry and Daphne Pineda won its match, 6-2, 6-2.
Classical has a date with Danvers on Wednesday afternoon.
Marblehead 5, Peabody 0
The Magicians swept the Tanners, with first singles Michelle Shub and second singles Julia Channing winning their matches, 6-0, 6-0. Third singles Simone Likterov won her match, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, the teams of Lily Frontero/Megan Ryan and Kaelyn Attridge/Lizzie Potvin won their matches, 6-0, 6-1.
“The girls have really learned to be patient, and wait for their shots,” Marblehead coach Tracy Ackerman said. “I am really looking forward to the Individual State Tournament on Saturday, where 5 of our girls will be competing with top competition in the state.”
Winthrop 3, Swampscott 2
Swampscott notched two singles wins on the day, with Anna Cilley taking first singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Gina Hollenbach taking second singles, 6-0, 6-0.
The Big Blue (6-3) take on Somerville on Wednesday.
Arlington Catholic 4, St. Mary’s 1
Arlington Catholic 3, St. Mary’s 1
The Spartans dropped both matches of their Catholic Central League doubleheader on Monday. The lone winner in each match for St. Mary’s was first singles player Mia Nikolakopoulos. The Spartans are now 0-12.
BOYS TENNIS
Lynn Classical 4, Medford 1
Classical took two singles matches and both doubles matches in the win, with Calvin Cheung leading the way with a win in first singles, 6-1, 6-3. Moses Ba took the second singles match, 6-4, 6-1. In doubles play, it was the team of Stephen Ong and Gerry Ennis that won the first match, 6-0, 6-1, and the team of Jonathan Chase and Andy Ma took the second match, 6-1, 6-0.
The Rams have a match against Danvers on Wednesday.
Swampscott 3, Winthrop 2
It all came down to second doubles for the Big Blue on Monday afternoon, with the team of Dan Johnson and Justin Ratner battling for a three-set win, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, to decide the match. Other winners for Swampscott were Will Talebian in second singles, 6-0, 6-3, and the team of Owen Madigan-Fried and Steve Santanello in first doubles, 6-3, 6-2.
Swampscott (6-2) will take on Somerville on Wednesday.
BC High 3, St. John’s Prep 2
Mike Propkopis took a win for the Prep in singles play, 3-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2. The second doubles team of Jack Malowepszy and Jason Xu also notched a win for the Eagles, 7-5, 7-5. The Prep (7-2) hopes to bounce back today when it hosts Austin Prep.
Revere 4, Salem 1
Revere swept the singles portion of the match, getting wins from David Grujic (6-2, 3-0), Andrea Shehaj (6-1, 6-2) and Josh Preciado (6-1, 6-3). The doubles win came from the team of Josue Martinez and Alejandro Zuleta, 6-0, 6-0.
The Patriots (4-3) have a home match against Gloucester on Wednesday.
North Reading 3, Bishop Fenwick 2
The Crusaders earned one singles win and one doubles win in the loss on Monday. Greg Mattucci took the second singles match, 6-1, 6-2, and the team of Regan Zhu and Nick Park took the second doubles match, 6-1, 6-2.
Fenwick (2-7) will take on St. Mary’s at home this afternoon.
Beverly 5, Everett 0
The Panthers got singles wins from Enrico Costa (6-0, 6-1), Ryan Daly (7-5, 6-4) and Michael Silveira (6-1, 6-0). In doubles play, the team of Oliver Gibson and Tommy George took its match, 6-0, 6-0, and the team of Ryan Keve and Gavin Gleason won its match, 6-0, 6-0.
Beverly (6-2) will play against Medford on Wednesday.
