LYNN — Resean Smith, 30, was arrested on firearm charges after he was found with an illegal loaded handgun Tuesday night.
Police noticed Smith, of Lynn, on Union Street around 7:13 p.m. The officer knew Smith from a prior dealing, and was aware that he had two warrants out for his arrest. The officer called for another police cruiser, and confirmed the warrants, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
When police approached Smith to stop him for the warrants, a brief struggle ensued, until the suspect was on the ground. Police removed an illegal 9mm handgun loaded with 17 rounds from Smith’s waistband. He was then arrested, Kmiec said.
Smith was charged with carrying a loaded firearm weapon, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and with warrant charges of additional firearm offenses, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering for a felony, and attempt to commit a crime.
