Marblehead’s Lucie Poulin was named the NEC North Defensive Player of the Year.

Marblehead midfielder Lucie Poulin was named the Northeastern Conference North Defensive Player of the Year and Revere’s Kiana Napolitano was named the South Offensive Player of the Year as the NEC All-Star selections for girls lacrosse were announced.
Peabody’s Lauren Wolff took home the North Offensive Player of the Year award, while Gloucester’s Lily Kuhns won the South Defensive Player of the Year honor.
Poulin, a senior, who will continue her lacrosse career at Division I UMass Amherst, was part of a Marblehead squad that went 16-2 in the regular season, earning the No. 2 seed in the Division 2 North tournament. The Magicians season came to a close Monday, as they fell to Ipswich, 12-8, in the North semifinals. Marblehead was led by coach Annie Madden, who won the NEC North Coach of the Year.
Four other members of the Marblehead team were named to the All-Conference First Team: junior attack Hadley Carlton, sophomore midfielder Grace Arthur, junior midfielder Caroline Driscoll and sophomore midfielder Lydia Bongiorno.
Two other Magicians, senior attack Amanda Gregory and senior defenseman Emma Bushman were named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Napolitano, a sophomore, helped lead the Revere girls lacrosse team to its second-straight NEC South title, along with NEC South Coach of the Year Karen Atkinson. The Patriots, who fell in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament, also landed goalie Shateya Travis, a junior, and midfielder Jenna Wells, a sophomore, on the All-NEC First Team and sophomores Emily DiGiulio (attack) and Taylor Sujko (midfielder) on the Second Team.
Wolff, who became Peabody’s all-time leading scorer last month, helped the Tanners earn a No. 6 seed in the Division 1 North tourney after a 16-4 regular season. Senior goalie Gianna Denisco also made the First Team, while seniors Alyssa Shashaty (defenseman), Chloe Gizzi (midfielder) and Kirsten Bradley (senior) made the Second Team.
Swampscott’s Ellie Wright was the sole representative on the First Team for a Big Blue squad that went 15-2 during the regular season and logged a playoff win in the first round against Melrose. Seniors Maggie DiGrande (midfielder) and Claire Powell (goalie), along with sophomore Nikki Rosa (sophomore) made the Second Team.
Other members of the All-NEC North First Team were: Beverly: Sabrina Beaudry, sophomore midfielder, Brooke Baekey, sophomore attack and Darcy McAuliffe, senior attack; Danvers: Isabel McKenna, junior midfielder; Medford: Victoria Paras, junior midfielder. The rest of the North Second Team was, as follows: Beverly: Megan Cotraro, sophomore midfielder; Maeve Blake, senior attack, Marita Smallman, senior attack and Amanda Rosenberger, senior defense; Danvers: Delaney Gagnon, senior defense, Sydney Foster, sophomore midfielder and Tiffany Foster, sophomore midfielder; Medford: Ailish Fallon, senior defense.
Medford won the sportsmanship award.
Saugus’ Marissa McClellan, a junior midfielder, and Nicole Orent, a junior defenseman, both represent the Sachems on the NEC South First Team, while their teammates Madeline Claffey, sophomore defenseman, Sabrina Dembro, junior goalie, and Ashley Poussard, junior midfielder, were named to the Second Team.
Other players named to the NEC South First Team were: Gloucester: Rachel Alexander, senior midfielder, and Maggie Destino, senior midfielder; Malden: Rene Spadafora, senior defense; Salem: Jessica Jellison, senior midfielder and Sydney Rocheville, senior goalie; Winthrop: Abby Carleton, senior attack and Emma Carleton, sophomore attack. The rest of the Second Team was as follows: Gloucester: Ruby Melvin, sophomore attack and Julia Wood, senior defense; Malden: Athena Goon, senior defense; Salem: Camryn Connolly, senior midfielder and Madison White, freshman midfielder; Winthrop: Grace Carleton, junior defense and Fatma Tufa, sophomore goalie.
Malden High won the sportsmanship award.
