SAUGUS — Susan Dunn, Town Manager Scott Crabtree’s chief administrative aide, retired Tuesday after working for the town for more than two decades.
“Susan’s contribution to the town over the past 22 years, particularly the last five and a half years in the manager’s office, has played an enormous role in the positive transformation the town has undergone under this administration,” said Crabtree. “Many of the town’s initiatives wouldn’t be possible without her hard work, dedication, and commitment to these changes and the community.”
Dunn, a Saugus native and 1972 graduate of Saugus High School, got her start at Town Hall working in personnel and finance. Six months later, she was working alongside former Town Manager Richard Cardillo, followed by Steven Angelo, Andrew Bisignani, and Crabtree.
“I have certainly enjoyed working with all the town employees, the department heads, and the town managers — I’ve worked for four of them,” said Dunn. “It wasn’t always easy but you just have to take your time and get to know somebody and you get to work to help that person. I have enjoyed doing my job.”
Crabtree credits Dunn’s support and friendship as a benefit to his and the town’s success, he said.
“She has been of great counsel to me on many issues,” said Crabtree. “The residents of Saugus should be grateful for all that she has done for the town. She truly has made the transitions and challenges a much easier road to travel.
“The manager’s office and the Town Hall will not be the same without her,” he said. “She will be sorely missed. She is much more than an employee; she is a great advocate for our community and she is a dear friend.”
Christine Moreschi, a Saugus native, began working alongside Dunn in March to prepare to take over the position.
Moreschi is a member of the Saugus High School Project Building Committee, Food Service Committee, Wellness Committee, and St. Vincent de Paul. She’s the president of the Belmonte Middle School Parent Teacher Organization. Before assuming the role, she was a Town Meeting member for Precinct 2 and a member of the Veterans Memorial Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.
Moreschi has an Associate’s degree in paralegal studies from North Shore Community College. She most recently worked as the Administrator’s Secretary at Veterans Memorial Elementary School for five years.
In her new role, she will independently maintain and supervise financial records, produce correspondence and other documents, and act as a liaison with department heads, said Crabtree.
In her retirement, Dunn said she hopes to have the time to not do anything.
