Lynn Woods draws large turnout

The Lynn Woods Summer Cross Country Series continued on Wednesday evening, with 269 runners competing across three races.

In the 1.59-mile kids race, Lynn’s Eamonn McHale took first place with a time of 11:06. Winthrop’s April Ferguson finished in second place (12:46), followed by Aidan Burke of Swampscott (12:50), Lucy Brown of Nahant (13:14) and Alberto Gerardo of Lynn (14:38). Oliver Brooks of Lynn finished in sixth place (15:15), Kaylei Johnson of Lynn finished in seventh place (16:07), Carolyn Osbahr of Nahant finished in eighth place (16:27), Bridgett Lawless of Salem finished in ninth place (16:48) and Kevin Smart of Lynn took 10th place (17:19).

The 2.49-mile race around Steel Tower and the Goat Path was won by Lynn’s Abrar Jalal with a time of 16:24. Lynners took the next three spots in the race as well with Colin Harvey (17:35), Adnan Jalal (18:11) and Jack Carroll (18:14) finished second through fourth, respectively. Anthony Ditria of Revere finished in fifth place (18:17). Finishers six through 10 represented a variety of towns, with Salem’s Finn Lacey finishing in sixth place (18:24), Woburn’s Mark Rosenblum taking seventh (18:45), Limilson Tavares of Chelsea finishing eighth (18:53), Nahant’s Matthew Brown finishing ninth (19:00) and Swampscott’s Ted Kennedy taking 10th place (19:06).

The longest race of the night, a 5.51-mile trail dubbed “Tour de Lynn Woods,” was won by North Andover’s Jacob Johns with a time of 46:05. Adam Cook of Melrose finished second (46:26), Michael Pulli of Medford took third place (46:48), Jose Leelere of Chelsea finished fourth (47:57) and Lynn’s Jim Pawlicki took fifth place (50:18). Nakri Dao of Lynn finished in sixth place (50:34), Peabody’s Mark Dawson finished seventh (51:33), Woburn’s Chris Smith finished eighth (52:01), William Jackson of Salem finished ninth (53:29) and David Hamilton of Haverhill finished in 10th place with a time of 53:31.

The Summer Cross Country Series will continue next week back at Lynn Woods.
