LYNN — A 26-year-old man is facing drug trafficking charges after police said they found a large amount of crack cocaine and marijuana in his car Monday afternoon.
Joel Lopez, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking, unlawful possession of ammo without a firearm identification card, and motor vehicle violations.
Shortly after 12 p.m., police noticed something that they thought indicated drug dealing, and ended up pulling over Lopez’s car on Arlington Street, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Officers said they found 68 grams of crack cocaine and 4.3 ounces of marijuana in the car. They also found a single round of ammunition in the backseat of the police cruiser that Lopez was transported in. The drugs and ammo were seized, Kmiec said.
Lopez was not charged for the marijuana, but another person in the car, a 24-year-old Lynn man was summoned for marijuana possession with intent to distribute, Kmiec said.
Kmiec said the man was issued a summons because officers on scene weren’t initially sure if there was enough marijuana to arrest him.
