The Massachusetts lottery will hold at least two massive drawings this week. Wednesday’s Powerball game has an estimated $307 million jackpot, and is the smaller of the two prizes. Friday’s Mega Millions drawing is for an estimated $382 million, though you’ll pocket a mere $238.3 million if you opt to collect the winnings in one lump sum.
It’s the largest Mega Millions drawing since the last year’s record $540 million win.
The odds of winning one of these games are remote, of course, but hitting a both jackpots? A CNBC report calculated the odds of a double win at 1 in 75 quadrillion. Good luck with that.
If you plan to play, you have until 9:50 p.m. Wednesday to buy Powerball tickets. Mega Million tickets are on sale until 10:45 p.m. Friday.
