A decorated State Police trooper who served on the North Shore for a decade died unexpectedly Monday.
Patrick Ahl, 40, had been taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after suffering a medical emergency, according to a release from State Police Colonel Richard McKeon.
Ahl had been assigned to the Norwell barracks since April after serving for five years in Revere and before that, more than five years in Danvers. He was awarded the department’s Medal of Valor in 2010 for his role in saving a young woman who was trapped in her vehicle along Interstate 95 in Danvers as floodwaters filled the passenger cabin.
Ahl was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1994. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002-03 as a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.
