Ready, set, vote in Medford

report

August 29, 2017 by report

MEDFORD — Voters go to the polls on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to narrow the list of City Council candidates to 14.

With seven council seats up for grabs in the final, the seven incumbents, Rick Caraviello, Fred Dello Russo, Jr., John Falco, Adam Knight, Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Michael Marks, and George Scarpelli,  are seeking reelection.

The eight challengers include Natalie Breen, Robert Cappucci, Andrew Castagnetti, School Committeewoman  Ann Marie Cugno, Cheryl Rodriguez, George Sacco, Remo Scarfo, and Curtis Tuden.

Mayor Stephanie M. Burke is being challenged by David McKillop.

Five incumbents are seeking re-election for School Committee, including Erin DeBenedetto, Kathy Kreatz, Mea Mustone, Robert E. Skerry Jr. and Paulette Van der Kloot.

Challengers in the 10-candidate field include Kathleen Cullinane, Angela Moore, Alexis Rodriquez, Michael Ruggiero and Paul Ruseau.

Councilors discussed the merits of canceling the preliminary election and saving the city election costs. But the proposal never went to a vote.

Polls in all of the city’s eight wards will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The final election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Voters seeking polling locations and a sample ballot should go to the city’s website: www.medfordma.org.
