LYNN — A 19-year-old man was reportedly caught with a gun down his pants early Wednesday morning.
Police responded to Laighton Street and Lawton Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. and were directed by residents to a group of men walking down the street, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
When police engaged the men, Richard Winchell, 19, of Lynn, tried to hide behind a car, Kmiec said.
Police patted Winchell down and felt a handgun in his front waistband crotch area, that eventually fell to the ground through his pants, Kmiec said.
Officers seized the fully loaded stolen handgun and another round of ammo that was found next to the car where he had been crouching. The two other men, 18 and 21 years old, were questioned and let go, Kmiec said.
Winchell was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm, firearm possession without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of ammo without a firearm identification card and receiving stolen property.
