Lynn home is hit with gunfire
LYNN — A Sheridan Street house was hit with gunfire on Saturday.
Police responded to gunshots at 27 Sheridan St. shortly after 12:30 a.m. and found three shots had been fired into the house and saw bullets lodged into the building. The front of the house and possibly a basement window were hit, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Four people were home at the time, including three residents of the house, but nobody was hit and there were no injuries. They told police that they heard gunshots outside, but didn’t have any information on suspects, Kmiec said.
The incident is under investigation.
Armed robbery suspect on Chatham Street is sought in Lynn
LYNN — A Chatham Street convenience store was robbed at knifepoint on Sunday night.
Police responded to Sunrise Market, at 353 Chatham St., shortly after 6:30 p.m. and were told that a man came into the store, showed a knife and demanded money from the clerk, a 46-year-old man, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
The suspect came in with a hooded sweatshirt, a hat, and something covering his face — possibly a type of bandana — and took off with cash from the register and some cigarettes, Kmiec said.
The incident is under investigation.
Man shot in his stomach in Lynn
LYNN — A 36-year-old man was reportedly shot in his stomach in Lynn on Sunday.
Police responded to Salem Hospital early Sunday morning after a Lynn man reported that he had been shot. He had been taken to the hospital by his girlfriend with non-life-threatening injuries, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
The man told police that he was shot while he was out somewhere in Lynn, but was uncooperative and wouldn’t provide any more details. Police responded to his residence at 8 Chase St. to check for evidence, but were unable to find anything, Kmiec said.
There are no suspects and no arrests have been made. The incident is under investigation.
Man arrested following chase and crash in Lynn
LYNN — A Lynn man was arrested after he wouldn’t stop for police, crashed his car, ran away from officers and was found with drugs packaged for sale on Monday afternoon.
Johnny Rodriguez, 46, was charged with failure to stop for police, trespassing, resisting arrest, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, speeding, one-way street violation and failure to stop/yield.
A detective tried to stop Rodriguez in the MBTA garage, but he took off in his car. He subsequently crashed his car on the Lynnway by Newhall Street and got out and ran, leading police to run after him, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Rodriguez ran through backyards during the chase and police were able to find him on Amity Street. Officers wrestled with Rodriguez on the ground and found several small bags of marijuana packaged for sale next to him where the struggle had occurred, Kmiec said.
