New gym planned in Revere

October 22, 2017 by Gayla Cawley

REVERE — The city is primed to get a little healthier with Planet Fitness announcing plans to open its second location in Revere next month.

The club, which will be approximately 20,000 square feet, will be at the Wonderland Marketplace at 151 VFW Parkway, Suite H, across from the Wonderland Train Station.

“It’s a great fit and need for the city and suits that shopping center complex perfectly especially with the buildout of residential Waterfront Square … around the beach,” said city planner Frank Stringi.

The mayor’s office had no comment.

“We’re confident that our encouraging and hassle-free environment will be a welcome addition to the community,” said Planet Fitness franchisee Stanley DeMartinis in a statement.

The 151 VFW Parkway LLC, an entity owned by Winstanley Enterprises LLC  of Concord, bought the 10-acre mall for $15.5 million last year, according to public records.

Winstanley Enterprises Principal Adam Winstanley did not return a phone call seeking comment.

Planet Fitness plans to open its doors in mid-November, offering another “judgement free” option to its existing Charger Street location. It will be open 24/7 from Monday to Thursday, will close at 9 p.m. on Friday, and hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
