LYNN — A 30-year-old Lynn man was arrested after reportedly hitting another man with a baseball bat during an attempted robbery on Monday night.
Joseph Singleton was arrested and charged with attempt to commit a crime, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The victim, a 27-year-old Lynn man, told police that Singleton demanded money from him. When he told Singleton he didn’t have any cash on him, the victim said the man hit him with a baseball bat and punched him, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Police responded to the incident at Lloyd and Washington streets shortly before 11 p.m. Officers had been passing by and heard the disturbance, and there was a call to police about it as well, Kmiec said.
Singleton was still holding the baseball bat when officers arrived. The victim and suspect are known to each other, Kmiec said.
