LYNN — Now in its 11th year, the Clock to the Rock 5K race is still running strong.

“It’s a nice course, a bit challenging, but a good, local race,” said Ryan Brown.

The runner and firefighter, who has taken part in the race every year since its start, was joined by two dozen other runners as the race kicked off.

Among them was a group of coworkers, including Chhavan Pin Oeur, Alison Carr, and Molly Wadlingr from Children’s Friend and Family Services in Lynn, who said they are eager to join the race and enjoy the food trucks and music afterwards.

“I try to follow any events in the city,” Pin Oeur said. “I thought this would be something great for us to do after work.”

The race started at Central Square, turning down Ocean Street before sending runners by the beach on Lynn Shore Drive. The race concluded at Central Square.

“It’s one of the most beautiful runs in Lynn,” said Carolyn Cole, director of the Downtown Lynn Cultural District.

The event also catered to be fun for non-runners, with food trucks like Frozen Hoagies and Bonetown Burgers, Cole said.

A tent was set up for Bent Water Brewing and music from the Strungout Playboys who performed songs from their new album debuting in November.

“I love using local talent,” Cole said. “We wanted to use lots of Lynn resources for this event.”

After the race, runners received shirts, this year colored purple, and a medal. The top three runners were also given a free membership to Lynn Museum/Lynn Arts.

“After people finish the race we want them to spend their time here downtown,” said Drew Russo, executive director. “We want people to enjoy their day and then keep coming back.”
