LYNN — A 31-year-old Lynn man was arrested on drug and weapons charges after police responded to a fight on Friday night.
Song Uth was charged with two counts of Class B drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card, carrying a loaded firearm, firearm use in a felony and large capacity weapon/feeding device without a license.
Police responded to a large fight in the street between the Lido Cafe and the Hibernian Hall on Federal Street shortly before midnight, Lynn Police Lt. Glenn Dunnigan said.
Uth was walking away as police cruisers arrived. A detective saw Uth walk down Marion Street away from the cruisers, Dunnigan said.
After seeing another cruiser approach him, Uth quickly turned around and began to walk away. The detective noticed Uth appeared to be holding, or concealing an item in his right, front waistband.
“This behavior is consistent with people attempting to hold up a firearm as they run or pick up speed as they walk,” Dunnigan said.
The detective followed Uth — who ducked into a backyard on Marion Street.
“The detective heard a loud metal object hit the ground as Uth entered the yard,” Dunnigan said. “Uth then quickly reappeared and began to exit the yard with another male he had been walking with from the fight.”
The detective ordered both men to the ground at gunpoint and found a fully loaded Glock 9mm handgun on the ground a few feet away from where Uth had left the backyard, Dunnigan said.
Uth was found with a quantity of drugs in his pants pockets and arrested.
