MEDFORD — She already made history as the first woman elected to Medford’s top municipal post two years ago and the city’s voters made it clear she is still the best choice as Mayor Stephanie M. Burke cruised to a lopsided victory and was reelected to a second term.
Burke easily outdistanced challenger David McKillop Sr., a political newcomer, by more than a 2-to-1 margin.
In the City Council race, it was good day for incumbents as all seven were reelected to their posts. John Falco topped the ticket for the second consecutive election. Also reelected were Michael Marks, Breanna Lungo-Koehn, George Scarpelli, Richard Caraviello, Adam Knight and Frederick Dello Russo Jr.
There were 14 candidates in the running for seven seats in the council race and the last week of the election suggested a council shakeup could be in the offing with a first-time council candidate posting a high vote tally in the September preliminary election. But longtime School Committeewoman Ann Marie Cugno, despite her preliminary finish, failed to grab a council seat on Tuesday.
