LYNN — The Lynn School Committee honored the members of the Lynn English High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MJROTC) drill team Thursday night for winning the overall championship at the Northeast All Service Drill Team Championship.
“The room is full and the hardware is mighty,” said Vice Chair Patricia M. Capano.
The MJROTC drill team took home eight first place trophies and two second place trophies at the championship event in Mexico, N.Y. on Oct. 28th.
“This never gets old,” Superintendent Dr. Catherine C. Latham said.
Each member of the drill team was presented with a certificate by Capano and Latham in a room of peers and parents.
The team is about two-thirds new members but continues to bring a winning culture to the program according to Sergeant Major Kenneth Oswald.
“The judges were in awe of our performances,” he said.
