LYNN — A 39-year-old Waltham woman told police she was robbed of her engagement ring by a man with a machete on Duke Street Sunday morning.
Police responded to 8 Duke St. shortly after 10 a.m. and learned that the robbery had resulted from an online purchase arrangement made by the woman, who was attempting to sell the engagement ring, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
The woman had set up the sale in the area, but instead was robbed by the purchaser. She showed the suspect the ring and he pulled out a machete from his waistband, grabbed the ring and took off with it, Kmiec said.
The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
