Help make it a grand Christmas this year

kmorrison

December 10, 2017 by kmorrison

The holiday season can be tough on everyone’s wallets.

But it’s especially hard for the unemployed and elders without a steady income.

A grandmother writes to Item Santa for help making her grandchildren’s holiday season brighter. It’s a tricky situation.

She is raising her two grandkids, ages 6 and 11, whose parents “are not in their life right now.” Grandma, who is nearing 60 years old, has been the caretaker for these two young children for a year.

It’s complicated, but she just wants to see her grandchildren’s faces light up on Christmas morning. It’s been a tough time for the children, who “lost everything they ever had,” she said.

While she tries to give them anything she can, the limited income doesn’t leave much room for Christmas presents. After experiencing a difficult year, Grandma knows that these kids deserve a break.

To make a donation to Item Santa, fill out the form below or visit Itemsanta.org.

All donations are listed in The Item through December and into 2018, along with a brief message from each donor.

Anyone interested in signing up to collect at Santa Island or any business willing to sell stockings should contact David Solimine, Sr., or Joel Solimine at 781-595-1492.

NOTE: The application period for aid from Item Santa has closed and The Item does not process applicants.  All questions about the program and the distribution of gifts should be directed to Salvation Army at 781-598-0673.
