LYNN — A 29-year-old Lynn man was arrested on drug and weapons charges on Friday night after police said he tried to sell drugs to an undercover police officer.
The Lynn Police Drug Task Force set up an investigation after receiving information that the suspect, Lashawn Fontenot, was dealing drugs. Police contacted Fontenot and when he arrived to sell drugs on Bessom Street, he was arrested, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Fontenot had three bags of suspected fentanyl, several bags of marijuana, a digital scale, 9mm handgun and $3,436 in cash, which police seized, Kmiec said.
Fontenot was charged with Class A (fentanyl) drug possession with intent to distribute, Class D (marijuana) drug possession with intent to distribute, firearm possession without a firearm identification card, carrying a loaded firearm weapon, firearm use in a felony and resisting arrest.
