LYNN– The Commonwealth Athletic Conference Small 2017 football all-star team includes 10 Lynn players. Seven of them are from Lynn Tech, while the other three are from KIPP Academy.

In addition, Tigers coach James Runner was named CAC Small Coach of the Year while running back Steffan Gravely, a senior, was named the CAC Small MVP.

The seven players from Tech named to the all-star team are Gravely, senior running back Keoni Gaskin, junior quarterback David Barrios, senior defensive end Josh Pena, junior wide receiver Elvin Gonzalez, junior linebacker Emerson Ramirez and senior tackle Kevin Aguilar.

Tech finished the 2017 season at 12-1 and won the Massachusetts Vocational Athletic Directors Association small championship with a 50-22 victory over Nashoba Valley.

“It’s an honor,” Tech coach James Runner said. “We’ve never had this many kids on the conference all-star team. I was very honored for all of those kids that deserved to be there. The biggest thing is that the conference felt that those kids deserved to be on the team. It means a lot.”

Three KIPP players earned all-star nods in senior quarterback/linebacker Kymani Morrison, senior offensive/defensive lineman Olivier Pyram and freshman offensive/defensive lineman Mike Brice.

KIPP, in its inaugural season, finished at 3-8 with victories over Atlantis Charter, South Boston and Burke.

“We are really excited and proud to have three outstanding players recognized in our league,” KIPP coach Jim Rabbitt said. “To be a first-year program and have three players recognized by the other coaches in the league makes me extremely proud and optimistic as to the direction of our program.”
