It was a good day for the Malden track team Thursday, as the Golden Tornadoes topped Marblehead at Somerville High. The boys won 55-31, while the girls won 51-35.

The Malden girls won seven of the 10 events; Rachel Eaglin won the high jump (4 feet, 4 inches) and the 50-yard hurdles (8 seconds), Shataeya Smith took the shot put (33-2), Shaqora Wallace won the 50 (6.7), Batoul Chouiki won the 1000 (3:11.4), Kylie Dimaro won the mile (6:03.8) and Jasmine Gray won the 2-miles (12:37.9).

For Marblehead, Lily Gregory took the 300 (41.9), Bella Corsini won the 600 (1:38.4) and the 4×400 relay team came in first.

For the boys, Marblehead’s Richard DeCarvalho won the high jump (5-8), Ryan Dumais won the shot put (43-4), Sam White won the 50 hurdles (7.3) and Joe Cronin won the 300 (35.4). The Golden Tornadoes made a push in the distance events, as Ameen Anwar won the 2-miles (11:21.9), Chris D’Entremont won the mile (5:14), Oussama Ourich won the 1000 (2:44.2) and Arthur Kossoski won the 600 (1:27.2). Malden’s other win came from Andjy Luxama in the 50 (5.7).

The Sachems struggled to do much against a tough Highlanders squad. Nicholas Ferrara came in second in the 600 (1:33.5), Cameron Catinazzo came in second in the 2-miles (13:27.7) and Elijah Tapia-Gately came in third in the mile (5:42.6).

GIRLS TRACK

Somerville 54, Saugus 23

Saugus’ Lizbeth Minaya took first in the shot put (26-0), while Olivia Tapia-Gately won the 50 hurdles (9.0, just ahead of teammate Jada Okoye, who also finished in nine seconds), and Serena Cacciola won the 50 (7.0). Sachem Jennifer Costa ran well in the 300 (second place, 46.4).
