LYNN — Firefighters were able to quickly knock down a working fire at a Rock Avenue home on Monday.
Lynn firefighters responded to the blaze 47 Rock Ave. shortly before 12 p.m., which appeared to have started in a ceiling lighting fixture on the third floor of the three-family home, Lynn District Fire Chief Stephen Archer said.
A mother and three kids from the third floor apartment were home at the time. The mother had called in the smoking fixture and got the kids out of the house. There were no injuries, but the third floor residents will be displaced for a short period as the fire and water damaged apartment will need some renovations, Archer said.
Smoke was showing as crews arrived and the fire, which was electrical in nature, had started getting up inside the ceiling. Firefighters had to get inside and pull some ceiling, Archer said.
Archer said it took about 20 to 25 minutes to knock the fire down and firefighters cleared the scene in about half an hour.
“It was a quick knockdown,” Archer said. “The guys did a nice job knocking it down.”
The blaze is under investigation by the department’s fire investigation unit.
