LYNN — Two men are facing charges after shots were fired in the area of South Elm Street Sunday night.
Police received calls for shots fired shortly after 10:30 p.m. and police cars were also in the area at the time. Officers saw a suspect run back into a South Elm Street residence and contacted him by phone and convinced him to come out, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Police recovered some ammunition and a firearm, which was legally owned by someone else, in the area of the 34 South Elm St. address. It is unclear if the firearm, which was seized due to its improper storage, was the same one used in the shooting, Kmiec said.
A 25-year-old Lynn man was issued a summons for unlawful possession of ammo and a 29-year-old Lynn man was summoned for improper storage of a firearm, Kmiec said.
It doesn’t appear that anything was hit during the shooting, Kmiec said.
Police responded to another report of gunshots on Sunday, shortly before 3 a.m. at Allen Avenue and Morrill Place. Three shell casings were found on Allen Avenue, but no suspects were located, Kmiec said.
Police also responded to a gunshot report on Monday night shortly after 11:30 at 26 Purdon Ave. A 23-year-old woman told police that her car was shot up as she was driving. One shot was fired, Kmiec said.
Police are investigating the three incidents.
