Summer Street store robbed at gunpoint by masked man

LYNN — A Summer Street store was robbed at gunpoint by a masked man on Monday night.

Police responded to All Day Convenience, at 548 Summer St., shortly before 10:30 p.m. and learned that a man came into the store with a handgun and demanded money. The register door was open and the clerk, a 41-year-old man, gave the suspect the cash, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.

The suspect, who was wearing a mask and hoodie, fled the store. The incident is under investigation.

The Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce shared an alert from Lynn Police on Facebook about a recent surge in convenience store robberies in the city.

Police believe two active groups are committing the vast majority of the robberies. Police said it appears that one man, who they believe has robbed six stores since Dec. 30, is responsible for the robbery at All Day Convenience, and that he also robbed the same store on Jan. 3, Lynn Police Capt. Mark O’Toole said.

The suspect is described as being dressed in all black and wearing a mask. In one robbery, he was wearing a jacket labeled “Snap-on-Tools” in red. He is further described as a white man with a thick build and a significant beard that protrudes below his mask, O’Toole said.
