LYNN — Lynn detectives apprehended what police said could be a serial burglar on the North Shore.

Josmel Mercedes, 26, of Lynn, was arrested Friday night and charged with armed robbery as he tried to flee Dee’s Corner Convenience Store on Essex Street near the Swampscott line. Detectives had been watching the store, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.

Police suspect the alleged masked thief may be involved in a series of robberies in Lynn, Peabody and Salem.

Mercedes will be arraigned in Lynn District Court on Tuesday.
