The Malden Catholic boys hockey team proved to be a charitable host to Catholic Memorial Saturday at Valley Forum.
The Knights ended up lancing the Lancers, 2-1, with all three goals coming in the first period.
Catholic Memorial scored just 18 seconds into the game on a goal by Chris Rooney, assisted by Jack Dempsey iand Thomas Larson.
The Knights struck again at 8:24 of the period, just seconds into a power play,when Glen Considine put one past MC goalie Kevin Burkett with help from Larson.
It looked as if the Lancers had crawled back into the game with only 1:09 left in the period when Riley Duran lit the lamp with Lynnfield’s Jagger Benson and Carson James getting assists.
Lynn 4, Gloucester 3
The Jets got a hat trick from John DiFilippo in the win, while goalie Jack Gallant got the job done in net with 23 saves.
Lynn (6-4-1) has another Northeastern Conference matchup on Wednesday when the Jets travel to Rockett Arena to take on Swampscott.
Gloucester (6-3-3) has a road game against Everett on Wednesday at Allied Veterans Rink.
St. Mary’s 3, Matignon 2
The Spartans remain at the top of the Catholic Central League after another conference win on Sunday. They have another tough CCL test on Tuesday when they play against Arlington Catholic at Ed Burns Arena.
Danvers 4, Medford 3
Conor Purtell is now only five points away from his 100th career point after his goal and two assists helped lift the Falcons to a win on Saturday. Tom Mento added one goal and one assist, Nic DiSciullo had one goal and Jared Mscisz had one assist. With the win, Danvers (10-1-0) becomes one of the first teams to qualify for the state tournament. The Falcons will host Marblehead on Wednesday at Bourque Arena.
Medford got two goals from Rocco Pucillo in the loss, while Michael Nestor scored one goal. The Mustangs (7-3-0) will host Boston Latin at LoConte Rink on Wednesday.
Winthrop 4, Northeast 1
Winthrop got four goals from four different scorers in a big win on Saturday. Henry Brooks, Steve Holgersen, Joey Holgersen and Sam Yarrow each found the back of the net in the win.
The Vikings (6-4-1) will host Peabody at Larsen Arena on Wednesday.
Swampscott 2, Revere 2
Revere was able to steal a draw in this one after scoring the tying goal with just 28 second remaining in the third period. The Patriots (7-4-2) will play on the road against Somerville on Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Arena.
Swampscott got goals from Drew Olivieri and Brett Benoit in the draw, while Thomas O’Keefe, Steve Santanello and Conor Donovan each had one assist. The Big Blue host Lynn at Rockett Arena on Wednesday.
Williams 3, Fenwick 2
The Crusaders got goals from Jared Crowley and Ian Worthley, while Kasey O’Brien had one assist.
Fenwick (2-8-3) has a road game against St. Peter Marian at the Worcester Ice Center on Saturday.
BC High 4, St. John’s Prep 1
The Prep dropped to 6-3-1 following a tough Catholic Conference loss at UMass Boston on Sunday afternoon. David Sacco had the lone goal for the Eagles, while Tim Usalis had one assist.
St. John’s Prep will host Malden Catholic at Essex Sports Center on Wednesday.
