PEABODY — Law enforcement officials searched the scene of a 2017 double homicide Tuesday.
The Essex District Attorney’s Office, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Massachusetts State Police and the Peabody Police, searched the property at 19 Farm Avenue in Peabody with the consent of the property owner, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s office. The owner of the property is listed in city records as Lucy and Stanley J. Pikul Jr.
During the investigation into the double homicide, information was obtained necessitating a further search of the property, she said.
There was no danger to the public’s safety, Kimball-Monahan added.
During the day, heavy machinery could be seen on the property, along with several tents set up by law enforcement. The property had a trailer in the back, along with what appeared to be automotive parts.
On Feb. 19 last year, Jennifer O’Connor, 40, was found dead with her fiancé, Mark Greenlaw, 37, in the Farm Avenue home.
One of the two men allegedly involved in the killings, Michael Hebb, later pleaded guilty to arson and accessory after the fact of murder charges.
Wes Doughty, 40, is charged with two counts of murder, rape, attempted arson of a dwelling, armed carjacking, and kidnapping.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Kimball-Monahan said there was nothing further to report about the investigation. Investigators were slated to return to the property Wednesday morning.
