New bakery coming to Munroe Street

January 26, 2018 by Bella diGrazia

LYNN — Munroe Street is about to get a lot sweeter.

Entrepreneur Amalia Sanchez is preparing to open a bakery in the downtown. B Sweets Cakes and Desserts is set to launch just before Valentine’s Day.

“My mom has been baking since I was a little girl, so I learned to bake with her,” said Sanchez, who moved to Lynn more than 10 years ago. “I’m just excited to keep the tradition going.”

Sanchez’s favorite treat is a personalized cake, especially for children’s birthdays. For her son’s birthday, she whipped up a giant dinosaur cake after he begged for it, she said.

The bakery, which will compete with the nearby Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Co. up the street, will offer usual sweet stuff, such as Dominican desserts. Aside from sweetness, the bakery will offer coffee, too.

While nervous about the details involved in her first business opening, Sanchez said she’s thrilled about the opportunity.

“I just want to make sure people like what I do,” she said.
