Two goals in the final three minutes of action lifted the Swampscott boys hockey team to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Cohasset at Rockett Arena on the campus of Salem State University Saturday afternoon.
It was Steve Santanello’s goal that tied it at 3-3 with just under three minutes left, then Drew Olivieri scored the game-winner for the Big Blue about a minute later. Olivieri finished the game with one goal and two assists, while Dom Codispoti and Zach Elwell each scored one goal. Conor Donovan, Casey Williamson and Jack Poska each had one assist.
Swampscott (9-4-5) will host Saugus on Wednesday at Rockett Arena.
Danvers 6, Gloucester 3
The Falcons rattled off their 10th consecutive win on Saturday, improving to a Northeastern Conference-leading 15-1-0 record.
Tom Mento had a hat trick to lead the way in the win for Danvers, while Matt Taylor added one goal and one assist and Jared Mscisz and Tyler Puska had one goal each. Conor Purtell had three assists, while Nic DiSciullo and Calvin Mansfield each had one assist.
Danvers will look to push its winning streak to 11 games tonight in a non-conference game against Masconomet at Valley Forum in Haverhill.
Gloucester got two goals from EJ Field in the loss, with Derek Hopkins scoring the third goal. Evan Leaf had one assist.
The Fishermen (8-5-3) will play a road game against Winthrop at Larsen Arena on Wednesday.
St. John’s 5, Newburyport 0
St. John’s celebrated the 10th annual Derek Hines Memorial Game in big fashion on Saturday, blanking the Cape Ann League’s top team at Essex Sports Center.
Brian Carrabes led the way with a hat trick, while David Sacco and Matty Tighe each tallied one goal. Tim Usalis had three assists, while Evan Beers, Ryan Farrow and Shamus Lombard each had one assist.
The Eagles (9-3-3) are back at Essex Sports Center this evening for a game against Austin Prep.
Masconomet 3, Lynnfield 2
The Pioneers came up on the short end of the Coaches vs. Cancer Game at Valley Forum in Haverhill on Saturday. Robbie Brandano and Kyle Nekoroski each had a goal in the loss.
Lynnfield (10-4-1) takes on North Reading tomorrow night at Kasabuski Rink in Saugus.
Winthrop 3, Fenwick 2
Derek DelVecchio and Ethan Belt scored goals in a draw for the Crusaders on Saturday, while Kasey O’Brien and Ian Worthley each had one assist.
Fenwick (3-10-3) will travel to the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg on Wednesday for a game against North Middlesex.
St. Mary’s 5, Williams 2
The Spartans (11-3-4) are set up to win the Catholic Central League if they can get beat conference rival Austin Prep on Wednesday at Connery Rink.
