Mark Kennard, former executive director of Project COPE at Bridgewell, will be honored on March 16 by the local nonprofit for his 35 years of service in recovery services and prevention programs for substance use disorders.
Kennard will receive the “Visionary Leadership Award” from Bridgewell during its Imagine the Possibilities Gala in Boston for his efforts to combat the ongoing opioid crisis.
Bridgewell’s Gala will be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Back Bay, Boston, and will be emceed by award-winning WCVB reporter Karen Anderson, who reported last year on a young mother’s recovery from a substance use disorder through the help of Bridgewell.
As executive director of Project COPE, Kennard oversaw the growth and expansion of specialized behavioral health programs, residential treatment and recovery housing, and young adult diversion programming for individuals with substance use disorders.
Former Lynn state Rep. Steven Walsh, current president and CEO of Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association (MHA), will present Kennard with the Visionary Leadership Award at the gala.
