SAUGUS — The head of the town’s Department of Public Works was one of three recipients of the Quarter Century Operators’ Club Award for 2017.
Brendan O’Regan, director of the Department of Public Works, was recognized for his long-term service and dedication in a difficult and dangerous profession by the Water Environment Federation Quarter Century Operator’s Club.
O’Regan has 25 years of experience in water pollution control and has been involved in the day-to-day collections, maintenance, operations, laboratory, and management of wastewater transportation or treatment facility for more than a decade.
“It is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization as the Water Environment Federation,” said O’Regan in a statement.
The nonprofit federation was established in 1928 and works to protect public health and the environment.
O’Regan received the Quarter Century Operators’ Club Award during the New England Water Environment Association/Water Environment Foundation annual conference and exhibit awards ceremony last month. He was one of three recipients.
“It is a great honor for our administration and the community that our Department of Public Works director Brendan O’Regan has been recognized by the Water Environment Federation,” said Town Manager Scott Crabtree. “I am proud of Brendan’s hard work and dedication to the field, and I believe our community is better served because of his widespread knowledge and achievements.”
