LYNN — Two people suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car near an Essex Street restaurant on Friday night.
Police said a man and a woman were crossing the street near Antique Table Restaurant, which is located at 2 Essex St. on the Lynn/Swampscott line, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Police are classifying the incident as a hit and run accident, as they believe the car took off.
The man is in his late 70s and the woman is in her late 60s. Both were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital by ambulance with critical injuries, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
