LYNN — The Lynn Elementary Basketball Tournament came to a close on Saturday with the fifth annual All Star Games at the Sisson/Pickering gym.
Before each game, two competitions were held for both the boys and girls divisions. In the girls free-throw contest, Lincoln-Thomson’s Dayana Hios Edwards came away with the trophy and the girls “Around the World” Champ was Sewell-Anderson’s Jomary Lora.
For the boys, Washington’s Jarrod Allen captured the free-throw crown while fellow free throw finalist Canei McLeod won the 3-Point Contest.
The first game of the day — which pits East Lynn vs. West Lynn — was a well-balanced affair that ended in a 25-19 win for the easterners. Ten players scored for East Lynn, including Aborn’s Mea Papazoglou, Sisson’s Brooke Moloney, Lynn Woods’ Sarah Tartarini and Harrington’s Jayleen Novas. West Lynn’s high scorers were Lora, Hios Edwards and Drewicz’s Keisha Perez.
The East Lynn boys completed the sweep by defeating the West, 46-39. McLeod paced East Lynn with 14 points while Brickett’s Marvin Perkins had nine, Sisson’s Tyler Guy, 8, and McLeod’s teammate from Ingalls, Louis Ledesma, scored 6.
West Lynn’s high scorers included Connery’s Fredelin Guerrero, Callahan’s Isac Medina, Sewell-Anderson’s Gabriel Martin and Drewicz’s Javian Martinez.
