Learn about the constitution at a North Shore Community College event

LYNN — North Shore Community College (NSCC) invites the public to its annual free Law Day Lecture Thursday, April 26, 7:30-9 a.m. to be held on the Danvers campus, 1 Ferncroft Rd, Math & Science building, room DS119 and teleconferenced to the Lynn Campus gym, 300 Broad St.

Keynote speaker Lawrence Friedman will talk about “Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom.” A professor of law at New England School of Law in Boston, Friedman also serves as faculty advisor to the Law Review.

Friedman is the Series Editor for the Oxford Commentaries on the State Constitutions of the United States as well as the author of dozens of books, articles, and essays on constitutional law and other important legal topics. Prior to his appointment to the faculty of New England School of Law, Friedman practiced law at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, and clerked in both the Superior Court and the Supreme Court in New Hampshire.

He earned his Juris Doctor at Boston College Law School and his LL.M. at Harvard Law School where he served as executive editor of the Harvard Human Rights Journal. Friedman received the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Recognition Award in 1999, and has served as a director or trustee of numerous non-profit organizations.

The lecture is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Refreshments will be served at 7:30 a.m. and the lecture will begin promptly at 8 a.m.
