Behind a massive offensive performance from sophomore Colleen Crotty, the Peabody girls lacrosse team rolled to a big win over Methuen, 13-6, on the road at Ranger Stadium in Methuen on Tuesday afternoon. Crotty led all scorers with six goals and two assists.

Senior Sarah Buckley also had a big game with three goals and one assist, while sophomore Olivia Kiricoples had one goal and three assists. Sophomore Maddy Lomasney and freshmen Hailie Lomasney and Amber Kiricoples each had one goal and one assist in the win.

On the defensive side of the ball, juniors Catherine Manning and Alyssa Saraceni played great games, along with freshmen Aja Alimonte and Jordyn Collins. Freshman goalie Olivia Lavalle (six saves) and sophomore goalie Sydney Nagle (four saves) split time in net.

“We had great balanced scoring and did a good job feeding the ball to the open player,” said Peabody coach Dennis Desroches.

The Tanners (2-0-0) will travel to Gloucester on Thursday.

Marblehead 14, Woburn 12

The Magicians earned the win in their season opener at Woburn. Marblehead’s Lydia Bongiorno led the way with five goals, four assists, three ground balls and three draw controls. Hadley Carlton scored four goals and caused three turnovers. Caroline Driscoll scored two goals and dished two assists, along with two ground balls and three draw controls.

“It was a great way to start the season,” Magicians coach Annie Madden said. “We came ready to play and on a mission. Woburn was a strong team with offensive power. Our defense stepped up and made big plays.”

Grace Arthur and Carter Murray each added one goal and one assist. Niamh Healy scored one goal and logged one ground ball.

The Magicians (1-0) are back in action Thursday afternoon (4:30) at Masconomet.

BOYS LACROSSE

Malden Catholic 13, Danvers 8

The Falcons were only down two goals at the half, but a big second half by Malden Catholic was too much for them to overcome. Brandon Treacy and Matt McCarthy each put up two goals and one assist to lead the way for Danvers, while Jacob Rotker, Colby Holland, Justin DiTomaso and Ezra Lombard each scored one goal.

Danvers (0-1) will host Pentucket on Thursday.

GIRLS TRACK

Marblehead 74, Gloucester 61

Behind double-winner Hannah Flores, the Magicians earned a win in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon. Flores took first place in both the shot put (30-9 3/4) and the discus (86-6). Other winners for Marblehead were Ashley Nye in the javelin (72-0), Bella Corsini in the 800 (2:27.9) and Caroline Johnson in the two-mile (12:27). The Magicians also took first and second place in the 100 with Chase Davies taking first (12.9) and Gabriella Mark taking second (13.4).
