10-minute plays in Gloucester

report

April 5, 2018 by report

GLOUCESTER —  The Gloucester Writers Center will host its 13th Staged Reading of 10-minute plays from M. Lynda Robinson’s Ten-Minute Play Workshop on April 27 at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center,

Featured will be plays by local playwrights Jay DiPrima, Julianne Driscoll, Linda Finigan, Carole Frohlich, Lauren Macchia, Michael McKearney, Jane Montecalvo, Mary Rhinelander, and Bob Whelan. These staged readings are the first performances of the plays and excerpts, and are performed by local actors. Feedback from the public – for the playwrights – is welcomed and encouraged, as the feedback given – on the forms provided – helps the playwrights get closer to a final draft.

The performances will be followed by a reception with food and drink, and the audience will have the opportunity to mingle with the playwrights throughout the event.  Suggested donation is $10, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. No reservations required.

M. Lynda Robinson has been working in theater for more than 30 years as an actor, director, producer, and teacher. She is a published playwright who has won numerous awards, and her plays have been produced all over the country. Her Ten-Minute Play Workshop is a popular program at the Gloucester Writers Center.

The Gloucester Writers Center’s mission is to celebrate, preserve and promote the future of Gloucester’s rich literary legacy, and to ensure that diverse voices can explore, develop, and be heard through dialogue, the literary arts, and the artistic process.
