LYNN — The Lynn United F.C. soccer team opened its Manning Field Saturday with a loss to International S.C., 3-2.
“I thought we performed better in the second half,” said coach Eric Moreno. “We came out kind of flat in the first half, and gave up some early goals.
“But although we climbed back into the game in the second half, we were chasing that tying goal for the rest of the game.”
International scored the first goal of the game, but Eddie Mercy tied the game for Lynn shortly after.
However, International got the next two goal before the halftime break to take a 3-1 lead.
Lynn got a second-half goal from Braima Samati to pull to within one, but that was the best United could do.
Moreno said the day was a success on many fronts.
“It was a really nice day,” he said “We had a real professional announcer, and he did a nice job. And there was lots of music and fun for the kids.
“There were some players from Lynn Y outh Soccer, and we gave them T-shirts and goodie bags.”
Lynn is back home Saturday (7) against Unations F.C.
Moreno, a Lynn native and Bishop Fenwick graduate, is the new boys soccer coach at Lynn Classical.
