Students at the Drewicz Elementary will take a field trip to Market Basket in Lynn next month.

The store’s assistant managers will conduct tours of the Produce, Meat, Seafood, and Deli departments. Children from the K-5 school will see the to-go meal section highlighting freshly popped popcorn and sushi stations.

They will also get to see how staff in each department prepare and package items, highlighting nutrition benefits, freshness, quality, food safety, and where the food comes from.

Students will also see composting/waste program for each department. They will sample fresh fruit, vegetables, deli items with an emphasis on healthy choices.

The trip was organized Kelsey Massis, dietitian. The tours will be conducted on May 8, 9, and 17.
