BOSTON – A Peabody man was indicted on Friday in federal court in connection with 15 armed robberies throughout greater Boston, including Lynn and Peabody.
Luis Cintron, 39, was indicted on 15 counts of interfering with commerce by robbery and one count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
Cintron has been in custody since March when he was arrested and charged by criminal complaint, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Cintron was involved in the robberies of 15 convenience stores in the greater Boston area between Dec. 28 of last year and Feb. 15.
During each of the robberies, which occurred in East Boston, Chelsea, Lynn, Winthrop, Peabody, and Everett, two masked robbers entered the store while wielding a firearm, prosecutors said.
During a robbery in Lynn on Jan. 8, one of the robbers shot at a clerk who had followed the robbers out of the store, prosecutors said.
Each charge of interfering with commerce by robbery carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. The firearm charge carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison, which would be served consecutively with any other sentence imposed, five years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, prosecutors said.
