Roundup: St. Mary’s softball has strong game vs. Matignon

Things went very well for the St. Mary’s softball team Saturday in a 12-0 win over Matignon.

Freshmen Marina DiBiasio and Alyssa Grossi each had three hits in the win, while junior Jordan Sullivan had two as St. Mary’s won its third game in a row.

St. Mary’s hosts Arlington Catholic this afternoon.

St. John’s 3, Chelmsford 1

Make that three wins in a row for the Eagles, who were led by starting pitcher Chris Rassias on the mound Saturday. Rassias pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed one hit, one earned run and struck out three. Greg Dauer came on in relief and pitched 1 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to grab the save. Mike Yarin went 1-for-3 with a RBI and Sean Lang went 1-for-2 with a RBI. Tyler MacGregor went 1-for-3 with a double.

Somerville 3, Marblehead 2

The Magicians had trouble getting the bats going on Saturday afternoon and came up just short at Seaside Park. Max Karass tossed a solid game in the loss, giving up three runs on two hits with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings pitched. Cole Garaventi and Ben Brennan each went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Ryan Harris (1-for-2, two walks) notched the only other Marblehead hit on the day.

Marblehead (4-2) will host Danvers this afternoon back at Seaside.

Danvers 3, Everett 2

It was a late-inning base hit by Zach Dillon that drove in the game-winning run for the Falcons on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons will play on the road at Marblehead this afternoon.

Medford 9, Swampscott 3

The Big Blue had a rough go of it at Playstead Park in Medford on Saturday. Swampscott will try to get back to its winning ways this afternoon on the road in Revere.

Danvers 12, Lowell 11

The Falcons were led by Jacob Rotker in the win with four goals, while Brendan Treacy and Justin DiTomaso each had three goals.
