SAUGUS — All lanes of Route 1 south were closed for several hours on Tuesday morning after a tractor trailer jackknifed near the Lynnfield line.
At 9:45 a.m., State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash involving the truck, which was pulling a trailer owned by Demoulas Supermarkets, and a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, near the Walnut Street exit.
Both drivers—a 68-year-old Woburn woman in the Hyundai Elantra sedan and a 42-year-old man from Pelham, New Hampshire who was driving the trailer—sustained minor injuries, said State Police spokesperson David Procopio.
The truck, which has a large Market Basket logo on the side, struck the guardrail and was reportedly leaking fuel from its saddle tanks, he said.
Traffic was temporarily diverted at the Lynnfield Tunnel. The investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued.
