LYNN — The William  P. Shoemaker American Legion Post  345 will conduct a flag burning ceremony, also called a flag surrendering  ceremony, on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Worn and tattered flags may be dropped off at any Lynn fire station in advance of the ceremony or brought to Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway by June 14. They may also be brought to the ceremony.

Post officers and English High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets, Boy Scouts and cemetery officials will take part in the ceremony in an open area near the World War II, Korean and Vietnam veterans lots.

Attendees may enter the cemetery through the Parkland Avenue gate and take a right to proceed to the ceremony area. Attendees at Pine Grove from Boston Street should turn left to drive to the ceremony area.

Hibernian Hall on Federal Street hosts a party Friday night, starting at 7, for ceremony donors with food, music, honorary plaques and more.

Post adjutant Peter Lanzillotti and David J. Solimine Sr. are ceremony co-chairmen. For more information, call Lanzilotti, (603) 931-8013, or Solimine, (781) 595-1492.
