Peabody residents Tom Gould and Martha Holden are the newest members of Northeast Arc’s Board of Directors.
“Martha and Tom have already done so much to support the Northeast Arc I know they will be terrific additions to our Board of Directors,” said Darcy Immerman, Board Chair.
Gould is a Peabody city councilor and owner of Treadwell’s Ice Cream. He has been a longtime volunteer for the Northeast Arc, a not-for-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities become full participants in the community. Gould has also run a challenger sports league for people with disabilities for more than 30 years. He’s chairman of Friends of the Black Box, raising the critical funds to open and run the new theater at the ArcWorks Arts Center in Peabody.
“Volunteering for the Northeast Arc has been some of the most rewarding times of my life,” said Gould. “I look forward to continuing to serve the Arc as a member of its Board of Directors to continue to change the lives of people with disabilities and their families.”
Holden is a director of planning, development, and community relations for Holden Oil. She previously worked at the Peabody Institute Library in Peabody for 20 years, including 16 as its director, and is an active volunteer with organizations including Peabody Cultural Collaborative, Peabody Institute Library Foundation, Citizens Inn, Metro North YMCA, and many others.
“I have worked extensively with the Northeast Arc staff developing initiatives in the downtown neighborhood of Peabody,” said Holden. “As president of the Peabody Cultural Collaborative and an active member of Peabody Main Streets, I have seen what an incredible partner the Northeast Arc has been with the city of Peabody and I look forward to working with the forward-thinking leaders at Northeast Arc to offer the most effective range of services to people with disabilities and to their caregivers and families.”
