REVERE — A 56-year-old bicyclist was struck on Revere Beach Parkway by an alleged drunk driver who fled the scene early Sunday morning.

The driver, Josue Flores-Ochoa, 27, was arrested following a brief investigation.

The bicyclist, a Winthrop man, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., police responded to the area of 943 Revere Beach Parkway after receiving calls about a bicyclist struck by a vehicle, which rather than staying on scene, fled Route 16 westbound, state police said.

Shortly after police responded, Chelsea Police found and stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Washington Avenue in Chelsea — the bicycle was still attached to the vehicle, state police said.

Flores-Ochoa was charged with OUI liquor, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation by state police.
