Police said a Lynn man briefly avoided arrest by hiding in a Western Avenue restaurant shortly before noon Tuesday after police tried to pull him over as he rode a scooter around the Federal Street rotary.
JuanCarlos Hernandez-Rivera, 25, 82 Allen Ave., ignored an officer’s order to pull over, and then ditched the motorbike and ran. Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said firefighters in the nearby Western Avenue station directed police to Pollos a la Brasa El Chalan restaurant where officers located Hernandez-Rivera in a bathroom.
He was arrested and charged with motor vehicle violations as well and failure to stop for police and disorderly conduct. He entered a not guilty plea in Lynn District Court and is scheduled to return for a probable cause hearing on July 12.
