Agganis all-star rosters feature plenty of local talent

Rosters for next week’s Agganis all-star games were announced yesterday and plenty of locals will have a final chance to showcase their talents as high school student-athletes. From Sunday through Thursday next week, Lynn will host at least one all-star game in commemorating Harry Agganis’ legacy.

The week begins with Sunday morning’s (10) awards ceremony honoring all participating athletes and scholarship recipients. The Agganis games serve as a fundraiser for the Agganis Foundation, which annually awards college scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Including this year, the foundation has awarded $1,955,000 to 964 student-athletes since its inception in 1955.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Classical’s Tori Adams, Rhode Alcindor, Sean Devin, Travis Ryan and Matt Gisonno (James Baldini Scholarship); Tech’s Amy Colon (James Baldini); St. Mary’s Grace Couillard (Edward H. Cahill Scholarship); English’s Sydney Denham (President’s Scholarship) and Abrar Jalal (Patrick J. McManus Scholarship); Latin Academy’s Lina Dai (Yawkey/Agganis Scholarship), Boston International’s Jossara Dos Santos Dias (Yawkey/Agganis); St. John’s John David Dwortz and Oliver Zmetrovich; Bishop Fenwick’s Colbi Flickinger and Jennie Meagher; O’Bryant’s Kimberlyn Jones (Yawkey/Agganis); Lynnfield’s Kate Mitchell (Greg Agganis Scholarship) and Elizabeth Shaievitz (Greg Agganis); East Boston’s Serena Rizzo (Yawkey/Agganis).

The 22nd annual softball (12) and 24th annual baseball (2) all-star games follow Sunday’s awards ceremony at Fraser Field. Locals in the softball game include Peabody’s Kelsie Blake, Mallory LeBlanc, Sydney Lowry, Luciana Mastromatteo; Fenwick’s Courtney Norton, Natalie Medros, Katie Olsen; Lynnfield’s Hayley O’Brien; Classical’s Adams, Johnna Calder and Meg Leavitt; Revere’s Victoria Correia and Alina Giuliano; Winthrop’s Jessica Martin; Marblehead’s Bel Sogoloff. Peabody’s Butch Melanaphy will coach the North, Classical’s Erica Richard will coach the South.

Baseball locals include Beverly’s Spencer Brown and Matt Collins; St. John’s Tyler MacGregor and Josh Cerretani; Fenwick’s David Furtado; Lynnfield’s Cooper Marengi and Nick Giammarco; English’s Devin Curley, Briston Maynard and Wilbur Rosario; Classical’s Devin, Dan Lilja and AJ Luciano; Saugus’ Mike Mabee; St. Mary’s Anthony Nikolakakis; Swampscott’s David Quill; Tech’s Serey Eang and Jhoan Ortega. Swampscott’s Jason Calichman will coach the South.

On Monday, the 14th annual girls (6) and boys (7:15) basketball games will be played at St. Mary’s. Locals in the girls game are Classical’s Irianis Delgado, Paris Wilkey, Jeylly Medrano and Tyarah Horton; English’s Ely Guity; Saugus’ Allie Kotkowski; Fenwick’s Fredi DeGuglielmo, Meagher and Norton. Fenwick’s Adam DeBaggis will coach the North, Classical’s Tom Sawyer directs the South.

Boys hoops locals include English’s Javonte Edwards; St. Mary’s Stephen Fama; Classical’s Ishmael Johnson, Erick Solis, Edwin Solis; Tech’s Belmin Berilo; Saugus’ Mabee; Marblehead’s Derek Marino James Millett, Seamus Keaney; Winthrop’s Devin Pulsifer and Tayjaun McKenzie; Lynnfield’s Billy Arseneault; Peabody’s Jake Irvine; St. John’s Matt Relihan; Beverly’s Luigi Derrane and Matt Rawding. St. Mary’s Dave Brown will coach the South.

Tuesday, the 23rd annual boys (5:30) and girls (7) soccer games will be played at Manning. Locals in the boys game are Lynnfield’s Matt Ricciardi; St. Mary’s Chris Garcia, Richard Mateo, Ryan Ramsay; Peabody’s Christopher Belliveau, Jacob Cassallas, Michael Panzini; Fenwick’s Skyler Tucker. Fenwick coach Tony Enos will coach the South.

Locals in the girls game include Saugus’ Aryana Carney, Allie Kotkowski, Rachel Nazzaro, Olivia Tapia-Gately; English’s Denham, Grace Gately, Tommi Hill, Tora Ueland, Alexa Zayas; Winthrop’s Gabriella Hinchion; Revere’s Gabriela Melendez; St. Mary’s Mia Nikolakapoulos; Peabody’s Jillian Arrigo, Emily Nelson, Beverly’s Aly Barr, Stephanie MacLeod, Lynnfield’s Hannah Filipe, Kate Mitchell, Mackenzie O’Neill, Sydney Santosuosso, Elizabeth Shaievitz. Saugus’ Chris Coviello will coach the South.

Wednesday, the seventh annual girls (5:30) and boys (7) lacrosse games will take place at Manning. Locals in the girls are include Swampscott’s Ocean Crawley-Sweeney, Kendra Fitzgerald; Marblehead’s Caroline Driscoll; Fenwick’s Flickinger, Rachel Boylan, Francesca Carpinella; Lynnfield’s Filipe, Olivia Smyrnios. Marblehead’s Annie Madden will coach the South.

Locals in the boys game are Fenwick’s Brandon Kenney, Tyler Layton and Christopher Russell; Lynn’s Shidley Belice, Jordan Garcia, Mike Clougherty; Saugus’ Christian Billingsley, Nick Sanderson; Beverly’s Justin Loreti, Matt Rawding; Peabody’s John Najjar. Swampscott’s Todd Pierce will coach the South and Fenwick’s Steve Driscoll will coach the North.

The 57th annual football all-star game kicks off Thursday night (7) at Manning and rosters are still being finalized.
